Mount Elgon national park and the Elgon Mountain visit, Elgon has the largest volcanic base in the world. Located on the Uganda-Kenya border, it is also the oldest and largest solitary, volcanic mountain in East Africa. Its vast form is estimated to be 80km in diameter, rises more than 3,000m above the surrounding plains. When it comes to Mount Elgon National Park itself, it is a national park 140 km northeast of Lake Victoria near the town of Mbale on the border between Uganda and Kenya. The park covers a total area of 1279 km², of which 1110 km² are in Uganda and 169 km² in Kenya. It lies at an altitude of 2336 to 4321 m above sea level. The highest point and namesake is the extinct volcano Mount Elgon. Mount Elgon National Park is home to leopards, eland, buffalo, bushbuck and giant forest pigs. There is also a small population of elephants. This was given in 1973 with 500 and 1977 with 1000 specimens, but in 1987 there were only 200 animals. The elephants are quite shy. You can find their traces in the large rock caves of the mountain range, where they absorb minerals every few days.

Well prepared and curious, you are setting off for Sipi Falls, Mt. Elgon National Park a 5 hour journey passing the Rainforest “Mabira Forest” where you will make a stop for a fresh breath and maybe do a short photo-shoot, after having a short exeperience in Mabira Forest, and your next stop-over will be in Mbale Town,, you will have your Lunch en route for body empowerment.
on your arrival, you can either decide to relax in the beautiful surrounding opposite of the falls or you start off your sipi exeperience with a first short walk. As the Day gets to closure in the evening, you can enjoy a delightful dinner, most with local ingredients grown around Mount Elgon area where a variety of Teas and coffee types are grown, Noah’s Arc Guesthouse and team are glad to cater for you for the next two nights.

After Morning Breakfast at lodging and we begin to explore the nearby main Sipi Falls which is a set of 3 falls, there are caves behind the main falls. Be on the look for lots of birds to discover as you climb all the way to the top of the falls. The views are breathtaking and the hike is estimated in about 2½-3 hours depending on the Pace. After returning to the Lodge, you will take time for a refreshment as decide on the next activity.
The evening ends with a dinner in your lodge.

After a short drive to the Mount Elgon Exploration Center, we take a day trail montane and bamboo forests, there are splendid views of Mount Elgon and the valleys below. Fields of wildflowers, butterflies, and birds such as the black and white casqued Hornbill, Hartlaub’s Turaco, bar-tailed Trogon, grey throated Barbet, Montane Oriole, Mountain Greenbull and Black Collared Apalis which gives your visit a banch of unforgetable memories due to the nature of the whole place. with a packed Lunch, you will have a quick check-out and prepare yourself for the journey back to the starting point via Jinja.
