Mount Elgon is a 4,321m high extinct volcano which in prehistoric times stood taller than Mount Kilimanjaro does today. Hike to the Wagagai peak on this 7 Days Complete Circuit Trail while enjoying the spectacular scenery which is sometimes neglected by many. A variety of forest monkeys and small antelope, elephants, buffaloes and over 300 birds are waiting for You, the description is indescribable. Just let yourself be surprised on your arrival.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival and Airport pick up kampala (Entebbe) - Sipi

The day starts with a big smile as you will be picked up in the Morning at your hotel in Kampala (or from the airport) and drive via Jinja, where you will stop for lunch, to Mbale, you will reach the town of Sipi and your dinner will be waiting for you.

Day 2kapkway to Tutum Camp

Early in the morning, After having breakfast you will drive to the kapkway Exploration Center where you will meet your mountain team. There is a short briefing and after all the preparations have been made, the hike goes through mountain and bamboo forests to the Tutum cave, which is at an altitude of 2,667m.

Day 3Tutum camp to Kajeri camp

With energy and braveness:
Today the hike leads through a vegetation zone, which is characterized by low vegetation with different grasses and mountain flowers. You reach the Kajeri camp located at 3,383m after a march of about 5 sin.

Maximum high distance that day: 800m

Day 4Kajeri Camp to Mude Camp

On this day you have quite a long hike, which in large parts also goes downhill as soon as you have passed the Mude Camp in the direction of the Sasa Trail.
Daily distance / hiking time: 25km / 8 to 9 hours.
Maximum high distance on this day: 120m
Accomodation / full board: Mude Camp

Day 5Gifelsturm on Wagagai Peak

Here you will start the hike through the raised moor zone around 7:00 a.m., pass Jackson Peak and Jackson pool.
From the ridge you have a fantastic view of the optimal visibility. After the picnic lunch at the summit, hike back to Mude camp for dinner.

Day 6Mude Camp to Budadiri

From today the descent back to camp 3 begins. First it goes back to the Kachope Lakes and further along the Bamwanjara Pass, where you might be able to observe a few rock hyraxes in front of the catchy caves.

Accomodation / VP: Roses last chance

Day 7Return to Kampala / Airport / Entebbe

After breakfast transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe, from where you start your journey or continue with a follow up program after with early inquiry follow-up program. There is a possibility of touring Jinja and doing a boat ride on the nile on day 7 only after inquiry with our team so that the extension of the stay/jouney is done on time.
